About the Mentoring Program:
- this ISSA program involves a new student (mentee) being mentored by a current student (mentor)
- mentors earn invaluable service work experience (great for resumes and future employment)
- mentees receive personal answers to their questions about the program
- mentors and mentees set their own schedule and communication rules
- mentoring can lead to fruitful academic and professional collaborations
Procedures:
1) At first, both mentor and mentee express interest in becoming a mentor/mentee by taking the current survey.
2) After reviewing the survey results to match mentors and mentees, the ISSA VP of Student Relations contacts both parties and releases the contact preference/information of the mentor to the mentee and vice-versa.
3) The mentor and mentee are now free to introduce themselves, create their own rules for communication and conflict resolution, and discuss topics of their choice.
4) Mentor and mentee are invited to complete a satisfaction survey at the end of the semester in which they collaborated.
